Overview
This course covers the basics of aerospace wire bundles. Wiring provides a pathway to power and control of almost every function in modern commercial airplanes. Knowledge of wire usage in an airplane is a valuable tool for airplane technicians.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
- List the uses of wires in airplanes
- List the components of wires
- Recognize different types of cables
- Understand the materials used in wires and cables
- Understand wire bundle, wire, and cable identifiers
- Understand how to determine when a splice is to be installed
- List the parts of a connector
- List the parts of a contact crimping tool
- Explain how to install a connector
- Describe an MTC connector
- Understand the process of tying wire bundles with lacing material and with cable ties
- Tie four different knots with lacing tape
