Overview

This course covers the basics of aerospace wire bundles. Wiring provides a pathway to power and control of almost every function in modern commercial airplanes. Knowledge of wire usage in an airplane is a valuable tool for airplane technicians.

• List the components of wires
• Recognize different types of cables
• Understand the materials used in wires and cables
• Understand wire bundle, wire, and cable identifiers
• Understand how to determine when a splice is to be installed
• List the parts of a connector
• List the parts of a contact crimping tool
• Explain how to install a connector
• Describe an MTC connector
• Understand the process of tying wire bundles with lacing material and with cable ties
• Tie four different knots with lacing tape
