The manufacturing industry offers many different career paths. One example is machining, which is used to shape and produce products. This course explores the field of machining and related career paths. It introduces you to various types of machine tools, the duties and requirements of machining personnel, and how machine tools might be arranged in a facility to minimize the time and cost of manufacturing products.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
- Define machining
- Describe various machine tools
- Describe how computer numerical control (CNC) is used to control the movements of machine tools
- List the duties and requirements of various classifications of machining personnel
- Describe different manufacturing facility layouts and the factors that determine which layout is chosen
