Full program description
Overview
Sensors are the communication managers of automated industrial systems. They collect information about the environment and convert this information into a format that can be used by the system. In this course, you will learn about the role and characteristics of sensors in automated industrial systems. You will gain an understanding of different kinds of sensors, such as proximity sensors, process control sensors, position, speed, and acceleration sensors, and advanced sensors.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
- List the primary types of sensors
- Understand the role of sensors in automated industrial systems
- Identify the characteristics of a sensor
- Explain how each characteristic impacts sensor performance
- Understand the function of proximity sensors
- Identify the types and functions of position, speed, and acceleration sensors
- Describe common applications of process control sensors
- Identify different types of advanced sensors and their applications
