Overview
Many different types of fasteners are used to attach components to each other. This course introduces you to different types of fasteners and the tools used to install them.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
- Explain the purpose of temporary fasteners
- Describe how to install temporary fasteners
- Understand how rivets, bolts, screws, and washers are used to fasten two or more components together
- Explain the purpose of threaded inserts
- Explain how drill guides and drill stops are used
- Describe good drilling techniques
- Understand how to operate a Winslow drill
- Describe how compression riveters, rivet guns, and blind rivet pullers are used to install rivets
- Explain the purpose of countersinking
- Identify different types of countersinking tools
- Explain how and why bolts are secured
- Describe the purpose of torque tools
