Full program description
Overview
Welding is a common method of permanently joining metal components together. This course introduces you to several different arc welding processes. It also covers common weld defects and the basics of welding safety.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
- Describe the basic types of welded joints
- Understand the importance of detecting weld defects
- Describe different types of weld defects
- List the possible hazards of arc welding and how to increase safety
- Explain the elements of an Arc Welding Circuit
- Define shielding and understand why it is used during arc welding
- Understand how the main operating parameters of arc welding affect the welding process
- Describe the process of gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
- Describe the process of flux core arc welding (FCAW)
- Describe the process of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW)
- Describe the process of plasma arc welding (PAW)
- Describe the process of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
- Describe the process of submerged arc welding (SAW)
- Describe the processes of electroslag welding (ESW) and electrogas welding (EGW)
